# Eva Fall 2026 SAT Retake Plan

**Decision:** Take one low-pressure fall SAT retake unless Eva strongly prefers not to.  
**Primary test date:** Saturday, August 22, 2026  
**Registration deadline:** Friday, August 7, 2026  
**Primary score release:** September 4, 2026  
**Fallback:** Saturday, September 12, 2026; register by August 28; score release September 25.

## Why August 22 Is the Primary Date

- Eva's June 6 SAT experience is still recent.
- The score arrives September 4, before the busiest application period and well before common November 1 early deadlines.
- The preparation window is short enough to remain contained rather than becoming a second major summer project.
- If a convenient August seat is unavailable, September 12 still returns a score by September 25.

## Starting Point and Goal

- Current score: **1180**
- Reading and Writing: **540**
- Math: **640**
- Useful target: **1280-1300+**
- Success threshold: any increase that strengthens merit or score-sensitive finalists without displacing application work; there is no requirement to reach a particular number.

The score report identifies the most promising improvement areas:

1. **Reading and Writing — Expression of Ideas:** 420-480 skill band
2. **Reading and Writing — Information and Ideas:** 490-540
3. **Math — Problem-Solving and Data Analysis:** 550-600
4. **Math — Advanced Math:** 610-670

Algebra is already the strongest math domain at 680-800, so it should receive maintenance rather than most of the study time.

## Three-Week Preparation Cap

The plan deliberately caps preparation at about **8-10 focused hours**, plus two Bluebook practice tests.

### August 2-3: Baseline and diagnosis

- Confirm Bluebook works on the device Eva will use.
- Take one timed, full-length official Bluebook practice test.
- Review every missed or guessed question and tag it by the four priority domains above.
- Start a short error log: skill, why the answer was missed, and the rule or tactic that fixes it.

### August 4-14: Targeted work

- Four sessions per week, approximately 35-45 minutes each.
- Allocate roughly 60% of time to Reading and Writing, especially Expression of Ideas and Information and Ideas.
- Allocate roughly 30% to Math Problem-Solving/Data Analysis and Advanced Math.
- Use the remaining 10% for timing, calculator fluency, and maintaining Algebra/Geometry strengths.
- Use only free official resources: tailored questions from My Practice, the Student Question Bank, and Official SAT Prep on Khan Academy.

### August 15-16: Full rehearsal

- Take a second timed Bluebook practice test under realistic conditions.
- Review misses and guesses; do not begin broad new content.
- If the practice result is not higher, still take the real test as a low-cost attempt, but do not add intensive last-minute preparation.

### August 17-21: Light finish

- Two or three short error-log and targeted-question sessions.
- Complete Bluebook exam setup/device readiness when the admission ticket becomes available.
- Prioritize sleep; no full practice test during the final two days.

### August 22: Test day

- Treat this as one additional data point, not a judgment on Eva's college readiness.
- Do not use automatic score sends before seeing the result unless a specific free-send deadline makes that advantageous and the destination is certain.

## Score-Use Rule

- If the new score is higher, reassess submission and merit strategy school by school.
- If it is lower or essentially unchanged, retain the 1180 and withhold the new score wherever score choice and test-optional policies permit.
- Do not plan a third SAT unless a surviving college or scholarship creates a concrete, material reason.
